  • Red - The red belt represents danger. The students have gained many different techniques in their fighting skill and are very experienced in using those techniques.
  • Black - The black belt represents mastery. The student has mastered all of the skills that are required in the martial arts they are studying. It is the last color that can be obtained in many martial arts fields. They do continue to learn at the black belt level but they are usually awarded by degree instead of a belt.
